BYBL ATHLETIC CODE OF CONDUCT
(Bruin Youth Basketball League, dba BYBL)
BYBL Mission
The Bruin Youth Basketball League (BYBL) is a non-profit organization dedicated to organizing a recreational basketball program for youth attending Northwest Hendricks Schools or living in surrounding areas. BYBL is committed to providing a positive experience that fosters self-esteem, sportsmanship, and individual growth through both personal and team achievement. Our focus is on developing basketball skills by teaching fundamental concepts in an inclusive environment that supports players of all skill levels.
Expectations and Values
BYBL stands by the principles of fair play, ethical behavior, and the right of every individual to enjoy sports without unnecessary interference.
We recognize that competitive sports can lead to strong emotions, which may result in disagreements or misunderstandings. Therefore, we expect every participant to respect the perspectives and opinions of others, even when they differ.
BYBL expects coaches, players, referees, families, and spectators to handle all conflicts with respect and a focus on sportsmanship.
We prioritize the enjoyment of the game and player development over winning at all costs. All participants must follow both the spirit and the letter of the rules. Unsportsmanlike, illegal, unfair, violent, or disruptive behavior—on the court, on social media, or elsewhere—will not be tolerated.
All participants are expected to show respect for others, regardless of skill level or role. Since many activities involve children, we hold adults to the highest standards of behavior—as children often model adult conduct.
Disruptive demonstrations or behavior that delays or disturbs organized play are discouraged.
Additionally, BYBL will not allow any participant—player or volunteer—with pending or previous criminal charges to remain active in any league program. Dismissal from the league due to such charges will result in a forfeiture of any fees paid.
